How to create strong passwords

We used passwords to access personal information in our computer and in our online accounts. If someone steals our passwords, they can easily use your credit accounts or change your password in online applications like Yahoo Messenger, Facebook, etc. You will not notice this until damages have been done.

What should you do? One thing you must do is to create a strong password. Password strength is measured on how effective the password in resisting guessing and brute-force attacks. The strength of the password is a function of length, complexity, and randomness.

Microsoft has published an article regarding password creation entitled Strong passwords: How to create and use them.

Coming up with a password which is both easy to remember and safe is no easy task. I found an article that will help you create a password that you can easily remember.

After reading the tips on the articles I sited, you now know how strong your password is. Check if your password is good enough, read “500 worst passwords of all time".

But remember that this is only our first line of defense against hackers. The most important thing that you must do is to change your internet browsing habits. Log out when you are done with any transaction and clear the cache so there will be no traces of your log in account. Make sure that you installed anti-virus and your firewall is on. Also, when you are using a computer in an internet cafe, check if an anti-virus is installed. And avoid downloading malicious softwares from the internet because this might contain a program that will check on your passwords.
